How to Use the Wordless Book You can present the message of salvation with a Bible and this book. The book can be made out of construction paper. You could also use jelly beans or balloons. Allow the children to participate with the object lesson. Scripture references are given for you to study ahead of time. Be prepared! There are several verses for use with the children. Be excited! Consider the importance of what you are teaching.
The Story How many of you have ever seen a book without words or pictures? (Flip through the book and show the children.) This is called a Wordless Book. It tells us a story from the Bible about God and His Son Jesus. Each color represents part of that story. Who wants to hear the story?
DARK PAGE Avoid allowing the black and white pages to be associated with skin color. Stress the spiritual need of salvation to the children. You need to pray that the Holy Spirit will bring conviction as you talk about sin.
The dark page represents sin. We are all sinners. Sin is disobeying the rules God has given us in the Bible. Can you think of some things that are sins? Did you know that we all are sinners? Scripture tells us, "For all have sinned" (Rom. 3:23). That means everyone including me and you. Sin separates us from God. God is perfect and cannot allow sin to exist in Heaven where He is. God tells us in scripture that all sin must be punished. The punishment for sin is death, and to be separated from God forever (Rom. 6:23). God knew from the beginning that there was nothing we could do to pay for our own sins. God knew that because of our sinful nature that we would not be able to live a sin free life, but He loves us and desires for us to be in His presence. That is why he made a way for us to be forgiven.
RED PAGE Stress salvation through the death of Jesus Christ.
The
red page shows us the way. God loves us so much that He sent His only Son,
Jesus Christ. Jesus was different than any other person who ever lived.
He is perfect. He never did anything wrong. Even though he was perfect,
man put a crown of thorns on His head, nailed him to a cross, and put him
to death. Scripture tells us that our sins were put on Jesus when they
nailed Him to the cross (Isaiah 53:6 “We have turned, every one, to his
own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.) Jesus shed
his blood for us. Jesus accepted the punishment of death for our sins.
He suffered torture and pain and ultimately died for us. Scripture tells
us "Christ died for our sins and was buried"
CLEAN PAGE Avoid allowing the black and white pages to be associated with skin color. Stress the children’s part in salvation. They have to believe and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
This page reminds us that we can be made clean from the darkness of sin. Scripture tells us about this in John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." We are all a part of this world aren’t we? God loves us. God said that if you believe in Jesus and accept him as your Lord and Savior you will not perish and you will not be separated from God. He will forgive you of your sins. If you believe in Jesus as your Savior, what will He do? If you believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, He will forgive your sins, and He will be with you always. Today, you can be forgiven of your sins and accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.
GOLD PAGE Stress how wonderful Heaven is to create a desire in the children to go there one day.
The gold page reminds us of Heaven. Scripture tells us that in Heaven, the streets are pure gold, like glass (Revelation 21:21). There is no sickness and no one dies in Heaven. Everyone in Heaven will be perfect and always happy (Revelation 21:4-23). The best thing about Heaven is that God and Jesus are there. God made heaven and earth. Can you name some other things He made? He also made us and He loves us very much. In John 3:16 it says "For God so loved the world”. That means that He loves each one of us. He wants us to be part of His family and be with Him in Heaven someday. Heaven is a special place He has prepared for us (John 14:3).
GREEN PAGE Stress spiritual growth on this page through Prayer, Obedience, Reading the Bible, and Fellowship with other Christians.
The
green page reminds us of things that are growing and of the new life we
receive when we accept Jesus. What are some things that grow? God wants
us to grow spiritually. Scripture tells us to "grow in the knowledge of
our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" |
